Perfectionism and writing anxiety as predictors of Iranian EFL learners’ performance in IELTS writing module: a multi-dimensional perspective

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between Iranian EFL Learners’ perfectionism and writing anxiety their performance in IELTS Writing Module. To this end, sixty-eight learners were selected via convenience sampling. Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale developed validated by Hewitt Flett (1991) Second Language Anxiety Inventory devised Cheng (2004) administered participants. The participants then asked write on an assigned topic from Task 2. findings of indicated that three dimensions (i.e., self-oriented, other-oriented socially prescribed), none associated with learners’ performance, while a significant negative was found consisting somatic anxiety, cognitive avoidance behavior performance. results multiple regression analysis suggested predictors implications highlight strategies should be deployed educational policy-makers, practitioners, examiners alleviate L2 classrooms, promoting safe stress-free environment.
